ABOUT
BIOGRAPHY
Jason Clary is a representational artist and educator deeply committed to observational processes as a means of discovery. He specializes in the figure and portrait but is also engaged with cityscape and still life. Working in oils, pastel, and graphite, Clary is interested in a physical and psychological naturalism which only reveals itself within the visual dialogue between subject and artist over time.
Jason Clary has taught painting, drawing, and foundation studies for over 20 years at the collegiate level. He received his MFA in painting from Indiana University in 1999, his BFA from the University of Cincinnati in 1996, and studied at the Glasgow School of Art in 1992. In 2011 he served as an artist in residence in the Vytlacil AIR Program of the Art Students League of New York. His work has been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including shows in New York, Alaska, and Italy.
